Informal Education Experience
(Museum Education and Community Outreach)

I spent 4 years as an educator at the Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum in Chicago, IL. While there I had multiple positions and promotions. I started as a tour guide and public programs facilitator on the museum floor. I then moved into working mostly with student and teacher programs. My last position there was as a NASA Educator working with teacher professional development, curriculum development and school partnership programs.

In the Summer of 2013, after receiving my M.S. in Education, I started a position as an Outreach Educator at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, PA. My main responsibilities were to design, coordinate and facilitate a program called the Young Heroes Outreach Program (YHOP). This program is a school partnership program where we come to schools for facilitated classroom experiences and then foster a club at the school to work on a major community action project together in their own neighborhood. The curriculum is focused on social justice and civic responsibility.
